Disputes and Recovery
Domain Names have evolved to become business identifiers
and, as such, may conflict with existing intellectual property
rights. Most domain name disputes are associated with "cybersquatting",
where a party has registered domain names usually associated
with another company or person, in order to gain financial
benefit from selling it on. However, it may also happen that
a person registers in "good faith" a domain name
another party believes to be rightfully his. Given the first-come,
first-served nature of the domain name registration system,
such a case may fall outside Intellectual property issues
and should be handled accordingly.
